The united states and the world...?
The united states has always battled through adversity and ended up coming out stronger and better then before, but the rest of the world usually gets left behind. For example after WW2 America came out as a ridiculous production, money-making powerhouse while every other nation was ruined. Today the EU is in a worse financial crisis then the US, japan is having nuclear meltdowns w/ an 8.9 earthquake, and the middle east is just in a state of revolution causing gas prices to skyrocket. Yet here in the US we have the same problems as 3 years ago and it just doesn't seem as bad, and heck our unemployment has decreased from 9.8% to 9.3% and our stock market is having good gains over the past year, but the housing market is till shaky. Do you think once America gets back on track we will once again extend our reach and power?

Is it time for a change on how we elect our government?
We ,the people of United States of America to insure domestic tranquility should hereby outlaw the political parties,congressional and presidential pay that far exceeds the average income ,implement term limits and eliminate pensions for them,make them save their money in a 401k like we have to. Our forefathers did not intend for career senators,congressmen.Whats your opinion.

i would prefer that we first fix our public education system. Although we have excellent colleges, our secondary schools are crap compared to other nations.

More for money for the rich? OMG!!!?
More for money for the rich? OMG!!!?
Ok, now I'll step-aside from the sarcastic introduction. My real question is this. The evil stinking rich people that make alot of money in this country, should we take their money away from them and give it to the bottom feeders? Should we cry and moan that the lower percentile aren't getting a fair share, and it's the rich peoples fault that they can't succeed in life and make money? Should we argue that since all the loopholes exhist for the disgusting rotten rich, that the lower classes that depend on the handouts from the government will NEVER be able to use the same loopholes? Is it unreasonable to assume that if you work hard every day, and save your money up, that you too could own your own business? Seriously. Pick something you love. Work as hard as you can at your job and save every penny that you can. Put that case of beer back on the shelf at the grocery store and put that money into your savings account instead. Take this money that you saved up and go get a loan to start a business. It may sound hard but it's doable. Welcome to The United States of America. You have the freedoms to move up in social standing that some other countries don't get. I wish everyone owned their own businesses. I really do. Then people can see and realize that alot more money then they think of is going to the government. People whine and complain about the rich getting huge tax breaks. Well, I think they deserve it. The people who make that money, guess what? They're your small business owners. They're the backbones of this country. If Walmart left would we as a country be ok? Yes. If Coca-cola left, would we be ok? Yes. If all the small businesses packed up and left would we be ok? No. We'd be shit stuck. Again I'll repeat this; I wish everyone owned their own businesses. But unfortunately not everyone can. There has to be Janitor's. There has to be Teachers and Mechanics. Who agrees with me about the United States?
Who agrees with me about the United States?
So to start im asking this because of watching videos on youtube. Im a proud American and love my country very much. I was on youtube browsing some videos of family guy, and it was a English joke. I found it funny but a bunch of British people found it offensive. I mean first of all its family guy. That in itself tells it all. Family guy spares no race or religion. Whites, Black, Indians, jews, christians whatever. So telling a joke saying like British people have bad teeth is just that, a joke. Its not true i know this. I think British people have great chompers. That turned into a bigger conversation of whos better. Now im not just a American who says the United States is better and dont back it up. Who comes to the rescue of the United Kingdom? The U.S. Who saved Great Britian from being destroyed in World War 2 America. When the Nazis came to bomb London and take control of England it was mostly American pilots in the Royal Air Force. We diserve more credit then they give us. We lent out so much money to them which they havennt even payed back. There in debt like America is. Sot they have free health care and we dont and they steriotype is that we are fat and lazy and dumb. The number one country in the world is the United States and England is number six. Now that may not seem like alot but it is in terms of power and wealth. Our military is frighting because of how strong it is. I am a LT. Commander of the United States Air Force. ive been around the world and back. There is a United States military base everywhere. We are a strong force. So strong we can be in Korea, Afganastan, Iraq, Germany, Lybia, Poland and more. I think English people are ridiculous when they think there is Royal blood. Its ridiculous there Queen is a joke with no power. This Royal Wedding was crap and i cant believe CNN would cover it for six hours. I think the United States is better. You tell me your opionion but make sure you have facts as well @Maya firstly you completely missed what I meant. I'm sorry for not correctly punctuated my sentences. I don't mean war debts from now I mean borrowing debts of 2011. Second I know how the US entered world war 2 im not a idiot and you don't become a decelerated officer by being in correct with your information. Third there were many American pilots because my grandfather was one of them so don't insult me. Fourth to the others just because a small amount of American don't like being American is a shame. We constantly put our necks on the line for the world. We do things to maintain our high efthics and to and to be a respected Nation. People who aren't well versed say the United States is a place full of over wait people and stupid children. This is so wrong because we can be distinguished by this because were all immigrants. That's not like saying all Chinease our smart and hard workers, because they are all one people with one agenda set by there government there's no choice or creat

While travelling in Australia a couple of years ago some American tourists approached my party and asked if we had any more of our Canadian flag lapel pins that they could buy from us. They didn't want to be recognized as Americans for obvious reasons.

America as you should know only entered the war after Japan and Germany declared war on the US. The help that was sent was paid for although it held up Britain's recovery for years. know America is supposed to be the land of opportunity and a place where racism is a thing of the past. i think there are quite a percentage of people who have come a long way from the days of widespread racism in the United States of America, but deep down inside alot of people are still hella prejudiced. lets look at the facts from the US presidential elections that is currently going on. its a pretty close race between the candidates of the democratic and republican party, but should be it? the following is from an email i received that really opened my eyes and made me think a bit. __________________________________________________________ Subject: What if things were switched around…..think about it. Would the country’s collective point of view be different? Could racism be the culprit? Ponder the following: What if the Obamas had paraded five children across the stage, including a three month old infant and an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter? What if McCain had only married once, and Obama was a divorcee? What if Obama was the candidate who left his first wife after a severe disfiguring car accident, when she no longer measured up to his standards? Regardless of your statistics, the fact remains that we elected our very first black president so no, America's not racist.

Just because we elected a black president does not mean that America has overcome racism. Racism will always be apart of America, because you still have people in this world that still believe that blacks are low class citizens: even though we have proven to them that we can be the best if we put our minds to it. Regardless of your statistics, the fact remains that we elected our very first black president so no, America's not racist.

Just because we elected a black president does not mean that America has overcome racism. Racism will always be apart of America, because you still have people in this world that still believe that blacks are low class citizens: even though we have proven to them that we can be the best if we put our minds to it. We can achieve just as much as whites or anyone of any race for that matter. But if you look at it you have uppity blacks that believe that Obama should not have been elected president...Why they believe that I don't know, but America will always be racist, that is what this country was built on it's not going to disappear, because we elected a black man in the white house.

As a whole, America isn't racist. After all, we DID elect Obama. If we were racist as a whole, he would have no choice of winning. There are racist people, but they are slowly deteriorating. There are blankets of racist and ignorant areas of America but they aren't the majority.

What would happen if all smoking became illegal in America?
What would happen if all smoking became illegal in America?
What would happen if tobacco and all smoking and all cigarettes and cigars became illegal in the United States a.k.a. no more designated smoking anywhere in the country? I think there would be a lot of businesses forced to take Marlboro and other tobacco products out of their stores or be shut down. The "War on Drugs" would take on a much deeper meaning than just illegal monetary gain; it would be about health. Personally I think cocaine and other substances being illegal is more about money than about protecting people's health or you wouldn't have this stupid double standard that says merchants can sell Marlboro cigarettes and cigars in grocery stores all over America to adults who are 18+ but unemployed people (drug dealers/thugs) can't sell cocaine or crack to addicts sleeping in an alley somewhere. Even colleges allow smoking! There is no point to D.A.R.E. for today's youth when colleges allow or even encourage that kind of behavior simply because they are adults considered able to make their own decisions. You will still suffer because of cause and effect regardless of how old you are. If you smoke you will kill your lungs. If you jump off a cliff gravity will pull you to the ground. I think the people promoting the war on drugs are missing the point of it all since there is no distinction between legal and illegal drugs except what the government says you can and can't ingest. I think it's more about money (greed) than about people's health.

To be honest i think that if Obama were to ban smoking altogther it would send out a positive message to other powerful countries who would probably think that if he could do it so can we. I think this will also greatly reduce the amount of cancer in the USA because second hand smoke will drop, this again will have knock on effects in other countries as people smoking will realize that it can be stopped. However it will take away alot of business as cigarette factories are likely to employ many workers and it would also put more pressure on US health services trying to deal with the magnitude of people forced to give up smoking.

The same thing that happened when alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, and opiates were made illegal. People would simply buy them illegally and the organized crime bosses would become even richer. 90% of the worlds heroin comes through the Taliban, take that income away by legalizing heroin and you'd cripple them, give them a tobacco market as well and they'll be even stronger, the same would be true of the Cocaine cartels in Columbia. 80% of the U.S. prison population is none violent drug offenses, you really think we need to increase that even more?
