What will happen if China requests its money?
We, the United States of America, owe China a lot of money, obviously. Last time I checked, it was over 800 billion, probably over a trillion by now. So what happens if China all at once demands their money? Or do we have some kind of agreement to prevent that? If they request it all, we obviously can't pay it, so will the government try everything to come up with money, making our dollar value drop even moreeee? Also, if we go into war with China, will we ignore our debt to them and consider us debt free of an extra trillion bucks? When do you think we'll go into war with China, if we go into war with them at all? Last thing, your opinion, do you think we'd win the war with China if we ever got into a war with China? Personally I'd say no. I think we have better training, and equipment, but they have over a billion people they can use in the military if they NEED to. We have like 200,000 people who can go. (not including allies, just U.S. vs China) Ahem assuming nuclear war doesn't happen. Just regular ol' conventional war, which is already probably too much to hope for.

If we were to go to war with China they would loose alot of food because we are a major food trading source or it would be a complete nuclear disaster. China will just try to eventually run our goverment so far into debt that we wont be able to afford a military.

Um, they won't 'request' money. They will simply sell all U.S. Treasuries at auction. Oh by the way, they started selling back in March. Hold on for a wild ride.

What they own are Treasury securities. http://www.treasury.gov/resource-center/data-chart-center/tic/Documents/mfh.txt As you can see, they did sell off about $30 billion, which is pocket change. If they sold all of them on the open market, it would probably devalue the Dollar, but it depends on who buys them. They won't sell them off, or do anything to devalue the Dollar, because they attach their currency to the Dollar. China does not let their own currency float on the open market like the Dollar. They attach it to the Dollar, to create a trade imbalance, favoring them. They actually invest in US securities to keep their own currency stronger. China is too interested in building it's economy and growing wealth to be interested in warring with anyone. Actually, what is happening today, happened in the reverse hundreds of years ago, when they were the world's economic superpower, and the U.S was the emerging nation.

It's No Suprise that the president is the secret dictator and the crowed of villagers are surrounded in a well placed oppresion where it's considered unpatriotic to disagree with whatever a soldier says and what the president says. many of you people are hell bent on defending america right out of your own backyard because you love your country.I'd respect you for that but the thing is america you're full of crap and you don't even realize it. i asked a similar question about an hour ago and got alot of good answers but some really dumb answers arose some more questions like theres more in it for the government to keep it illegal then to legalize marijuana hows that when were spending 19 billion each year on the war on drugs is america making that munch money busting marijuana users and i know the 19 billion the united states spends each year goes toward keeping every other drug off the streets but if you get busted with anything else but marijuana you go to jail then america spends even more money trying to correct our mistakes like how many hard drugs users go to jail only once

This gives businesses that hire illegals an unfair competitive advantage over those businesses that obey the law. * Those who do get a regular job, do so with fraudulent identification. This can have dire consequences for those who have their identities stolen. It also provides a path for illegals to get government services they are not entitled to. * Much of the money earned by illegals is shipped back to their home countries, thus it is not recycled into the U.S. economy where its use would provide jobs for other Americans. * Even though these illegals send much of their money home, they consume food, shelter, and other amenities in America. Basic economic theory states that when aggregate demand rises in relation to aggregate supply, prices rise. * Because they dilute the labor pool - again, based on economic theory - they lower wages for those lower-class Americans who can find work. * Illegal aliens create a great burden on our healthcare system. With no insurance and little money, they frequently use emergency rooms in place of a primary care physician. Depend on what they are doing. I had a good friend in Australia that was deported and he was a hard worker but rules were rules. My view on rules like that, its rubbish. Round up all illegal aliens AND their families, and conscript them into the Foreign Legion. Rotate them to Iraq and Afghanistan for a period of 6 years. If they survive then they can take a citizenship exam, demonstrate proficiency in ENGLISH, and become US citizens. Those that desert, are shot. Those that disobey an order from an officer are shot. Those that display cowardice in the face of the enemy are shot. Those aliens that are SERIOUS about becoming US citizens will jump at the chance to serve this country and gain their papers. The scum that come here for a free ride will run like the vermin they are back underneath what ever rock they crawled out from. The up side is with all the Legionaries overseas, we can re-deploy our forces on the border to keep future criminals out!

Okay sir I did not understand one thing you wrote. As far as I can tell you are mad because the US has the audacity to ask you to come here legally to work and better yourself. Look no one I know has any problem with people migrating to this country for work. Just do it legally. The reason the US immigration laws are so strict is to keep the thugs, gang members, terrorists, and other undesirables that attempt to come into this country through the back door. Their are honest hard working people who also sneak into this country. But we (Law Enforcement) can not tell who the good and the bad are until we can check you out and make sure that you are good for the Country. As far as the Human Rights laws you speak of, When you come to this country you must take care of yourself. We are not here to support you. If you want to be supported go to Venezuela or some other socialist country. Canada, France, etc. You have to earn your keep here. Don't rely on other people to do it for you through social programs.

What are you doing to make it through the 21st century's great depression?
Are the republicans trying to dig a hole straight through to China so we can ask them to borrow us some more money? Is the solution to America's problems to make life in America so horrible that people will eventually leave for residence in another land? Since out government is currently doing nothing for the people of the united states, why must we wait until the election to put someone else in the white house? why can't we do it right now? Isn't that proof that we are just a bunch of lazy Americans? Wouldn't active Americans hold the election today?

If we ever have a great depression, I'll make sure to let you know how I make it through. But seeing as how we are not even in a recession, let alone being anywhere near a depression, this question really has no relevance.

Voting a straight Democratic ticket. This is the only real change that we need. At least they answer questions. The lies are catching up to the other party.

well when we hit depression i will let you know, which depending on who gets in office might happen. our choices are welfare reform or government controlled health care which will be similar to the welfare medical card only controlled a little more by the government than it already is.

Well, the people are really being fed too many lies to be counted on right now. So my plan at the moment is just to survive first and foremost. Survival is always the first step. If things get to the worst possible point that they possibly can get to, I don't care if I have to go out and dig up worms to get a meal, I will do it if I need to. As well, if I have to resort to making an igloo out of dirt, so be it. My family is made up of survivors and we will tuff it out in even the worst case scenarios. Once you lay the foundation for surviving and getting by, you can get back on your feet.

The Republicans have been leading us down the path toward another Great Depression for a long time -- at the very least since Richard Nixon turned our health care over to HMO's and Ronald Reagan deregulated the banks (the latter being probably the greatest cause of today's crisis besides the expensive overindulgence of our military.) What am I doing about it? With regards to politics and the election, I'm doing my part, not only by supporting Barack Obama and the Democrats in Congress in the way I feel all adult citizens should (voting) but also by giving of my time and money. I have donated to the campaigns, attended gatherings and written letters to my local newspapers. (I've had about 7 letters published in recent months.) I spent time this past weekend in a phone bank, actually a volunteer "phone-house party," calling Democrats in swing states and asking them to give their time to the new-voter registration drive. I wear my "Got Hope?" tee shirt whenever I go out in public, my house has a Barack Obama sign in front (I just got another sign for Senator Lautenburg, the NJ Democratic Senator running for re-election) and my car has a bumper sticker with the same slogan. And I'm talking to people. I've even turned one person around: an old friend from high school with whom I've become re-acquainted over the last year, who is against the war, but is an evangelical Christian who WAS planned to vote for McCain because he believed the lying claims that Barack Obama is a Muslim. I had many long talks with him about the fact that Barack Obama is a Christian, comparing the lies to the 2004 lies about John Kerry, and sealed the deal when I told him what I had learned in "Dreams from my Father," and especially about the sermon that Barack spoke about fervently in that book, a heartfelt sermon from the Old Testament about the Audacity of Hope. Whenever he says that he supports Barack, he brings up the way I described Barack's passion for Christianity as proven by that very Christian sermon that Barack related in that book. My friend is now actively supporting Barack Obama, as he should, being as Barack agrees with my friend's position on the war, and being as his one reason for opposing Barack was a lie. There's another side to your question however... What am I doing personally, to protect myself? I'm employed full time, of course, and am balancing my time carefully over work, volunteerism/activism for the Obama campaign, family, and my other great effort: I am in the process of writing a book that I fully expect will be published in a few years and relieve some of the financial burdens the current administrations have left on me. It is a work of fiction, a "thriller novel," one with many political and religious underlying themes that, at the same time, is a page-turner that will interest most readers and I am confident will be a sucess. The act of writing also requires me to read, which I do avidly. My first draft (750 pages, about 200,000 words which I will cut down in my later drafts) is complete. I expect to be finished in about 2 years. I also do volunteer work for my (very liberal) Unitarian Universalist church. So let's see... I work full time, I commute, I volunteer, I read, I write, I help my daughter with her schoolwork and make time for family and chores as well. But I must be lazy... because I'm a liberal. :-) I admit, I do try to squeeze in a few hours of sleep after all that. I agree that Bush should have been removed from office long ago. Unfortunately very few members of our House of Representatives (the honorable Rep Dennis Kucinich leading them) have the guts to stand up for what's right.

WE as a nation are certainly not a perfect one but we are free to discuss,argue ,gripe,bitch,and moan about it. Why not try doing something constructive about it . Get out and find the right repersentation for what you feel needs to be changed and vote for that person .Join a group of like thinkers and lobby for change. Im just tired of America being the "problem" in some peoples minds,when in reality ,we are the government we are the voters . We hold that power,use it.. Our currant administration was put there by voters. I didnt vote for any of them and I will do my best to bring about change by putting my heart ,money and effort into a vote for change. I could never say the terrible things about the USA that I have read on line.It makes me sad. Freedom is never free and I for one am more than willing to pay the cost. Im sorry I should have said Americans not just people living here....And I dont think you can compare my question to anything Hilter said or did,if you read the entire question

I do support my country. That means disagreeing with my SERVANTS when they act up or do the wrong thing. I do not elect "leaders", I hire public servants. They are not my masters. They are the servants of the people. The government is not our master, nor should it be. It is our servant. I partly agree with you. But you've got to understand the other side. Some people don't have the resources to do so, ie: time, money, knowlege, etc. In a perfect world we would all be able to get out there and be heard, vote and make a difference in the future of our country. But life gets in the way, and before you know it - it's too late.

This country was founded and has grown up with many hard fought for freedoms. Many people today do not understand or simply have no way to comprehend what it means to be free. Everyone has their own opinions. Mine? It is unfortunate that so many Americans take so little time to understand the workings of their own government and are willing to turn a blind eye to the criminals they have given control by inaction or inattention. I am likewise distressed with the people who would rather we give up our rights to question 'the establishment' and ignore what is going on about us. Sheeple is the term, I believe. Were it not for the fact that our leader currently believes he is doing "God's" bidding. That he believes he can trigger Armageddon and End of Days is also a bit disconcerting. So....we blow up the planet...and then discover that the writers of the Bible were a bit melodramatic. Oops! I believe in the gods, I just don't believe in our leader.
